[Unit 1 of the northernmost nuclear power plant started] On November 15, the national key energy project, China's northernmost nuclear power plant Xudabu nuclear power plant Unit 1 nuclear island project started, marking the unit officially entered the civil construction period. Unit 1 of CNNC Xudapu Nuclear Power Station, with an installed capacity of 1,291 MW, has a designed operating life of 60 years. The unit adopts the three-generation technology of domestic pressurized water reactor model, and the safety system fully meets the requirements of China's safety regulations and standards. The total construction period of a single unit is five years, and Unit 1 is expected to be put into production in 2028. Xudabu Nuclear Power Plant is located in Xudabu Town, Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province. Project planning and construction of 6 million kilowatt units, the total investment of more than 100 billion yuan, a planning, phased construction. Units 3 and 4 have been started in July 2021 and May 2022, respectively, and the project is progressing smoothly. After the six units of the Xudapu nuclear power plant are put into operation, it can provide more than 54 billion KWH of clean electricity every year, save about 19.2 million tons of coal and reduce about 56.7 million tons of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to the annual absorption of 360,000 hectares of forests, which plays an important role in actively and steadily promoting carbon peak carbon neutrality and promoting low-carbon green development. • [China will introduce a power storage system to Kazakhstan]
  • According to the press office of the State Grid Management Corporation of Kazakhstan (KEGOC), China Power International Development Co., Ltd. will introduce a power storage system to Kazakhstan. KEGOC pointed out in the news that the implementation agreement of the pilot project for the introduction of energy storage systems in Kazakhstan's unified energy system was signed in Beijing on December 4. "Under the agreement, China Power International Development Co., Ltd. will install a power storage system with a maximum capacity of 5 MW at the Kazakh State Grid Management Joint Stock Company substation," KEGOC said in a statement. According to KEGOC, the project aims to "study the impact of the power storage system on the distribution of the power system when the renewable energy power is incorporated into the unified power system of Kazakhstan." • [Mauritania launched a large-scale renewable energy hydrogen storage project]
  • Denmark's GreenGo has launched the Megaton Moon project in Mauritania, a 60 GW solar-wind power facility equipped with 35 GW of green hydrogen capacity. The project developer submitted a development application to the Mauritanian Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Mines this week. The Megaton Moon project will be built in several phases, with the initial pilot phase expected to be completed in 2028 and the final phase to be completed between 2033 and 2035. In addition, the project will generate more than 70 million tons of desalinated water per year, which will be three times the amount of water consumed by the Megaton facility to produce green hydrogen itself. GreenGo said the project will also use more than 10 TWh of surplus energy to promote the development of large-scale agricultural industries and local supply chains in the desert region. "Developing a project of this scale requires close cooperation with the supply chain and purchasers," said Anders Heine Jensen, CEO of GreenGo. "The scale of the project will attract manufacturers to produce photovoltaic panels, wind turbine blades and electrolytic components locally. We are currently negotiating a Memorandum of Agreement with the manufacturer." Editor/Xu Shengpeng
