On November 9, 2023, the second phase of the Guangzhou Airport Central Business District and Guangzhou Airport Expo Center project began construction in Guangzhou, marking the entry of the project into the substantive stage of engineering construction and will be completed and put into operation in 2025.

The Guangzhou Airport Central Business District and Guangzhou Airport Expo Center projects are located at the core of the Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone, adjacent to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to the north and Gaozeng Subway Station to the west. Together with the T1, T2, and T3 terminals in front of the business district, they form the "U Port" of the airport's international business portal. The total investment of the project is about 16 billion yuan, with a land area of about 660000 square meters and a total construction area of about 1.46 million square meters, Including the Guangzhou Airport Expo Center and the Central Business District.

The Guangzhou Airport Expo Center is located near the airport, Huadu, and Baiyun industrial clusters, with developed air rail intermodal transportation. It is the only large-scale professional exhibition hall in the northern part of Guangzhou. The architecture is based on the concept of "cloud mountains, pearl waters, and airport takeoff", adopting the most efficient and convenient "fishbone style" layout design. The venue space is constructed according to the standard of "single story, columnless, large-span, and multi entrance" international first-class exhibition center.

The Expo Center will focus on professional themed exhibitions such as high-end intelligent equipment, aerospace equipment, new generation information technology, biopharmaceuticals, electronic information, cultural and tourism, forming a new exhibition pattern of coordinated development with Pazhou Exhibition and Nansha Pilot Free Trade Zone's "one main and two secondary cores".
