[Tianjin Another Major Water Conservancy Project Commences]On September 18, 2023, the construction of the comprehensive management project from the Langergang Hub to the Qujiadian Hub of the North Canal in Tianjin began. This project is one of the major water conservancy projects that the Ministry of Water Resources will focus on promoting in 2023. The Tianjin section of the North Canal has a total length of 88.6 kilometers and is an important component of the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal. It plays an important role in carrying out flood discharge in the upstream Beijing Tianjin Hebei region and ensuring flood control safety in the areas along the line. At the same time, it plays an important role in promoting the cultural protection, inheritance, and utilization of the Grand Canal. The main focus of this project is to comprehensively manage the 15.6 kilometer section of the river from the Lan'ergang Hub to the Jingjintang Expressway Bridge, Zhenhua Bridge to the Jingshan Railway Bridge, and Laomidian Control Gate to the Yongbei confluence. The construction includes dredging of the river, construction and reinforcement of embankments, and hazardous engineering treatment. The total investment of the project is 232 million yuan.
