Saudi Arabia Rayis-Rabigh Water Transfer Project BOT Contract Signed
Recently, Alkhorayef Hydropower Technology Company announced that a consortium led by the company signed a BOT contract for the Rayis-Rabigh independent water pipeline project with the Saudi Water Cooperation Company, with a contract value of approximately 7.78 billion Saudi riyals. This project is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia. It has a water transmission capacity of 500,000 cubic meters per day and a total length of more than 150 kilometers. It will provide drinking water to the Mecca and Medina regions.
The contract period of the project is 450 months, the construction period is 30 months, and commercial operations will begin in the second quarter of 2026 for a period of 35 years.
AWPT owns 50% of the shares of the consortium and will currently cooperate with relevant stakeholders to complete the financing closure of the project. The project will support increased local content by increasing the Saudi content of businesses and human resources. Editor/GaoLiMei
