On September 13, 2023, Indonesian President Joko Widodo visited the Jakarto-Bandung high-speed railway, a China-Indonesia cooperation project, and took a high-speed train from Halim Station in Jakarta to Padalarang Station in West Java province. He appreciated the painstaking efforts made by railway builders of the two countries.

At Halim high-speed Railway Station, Joko inspected the construction of the station, and listened to the person in charge of China Railway International Co., LTD and Indonesia China High-speed Railway Co., LTD., on the overall construction and operation preparation of the Jakarto-Bandung high-speed railway project.

Joko said that with the joint efforts of all parties involved in the construction, the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail will officially operate commercially in early October. It was his first time riding the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train and he felt smooth and comfortable when the train ran at 350 km/h. He hopes Indonesians will use more public transport and take the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail to ease the traffic pressure between Jakarta and Bandung.

It is reported that this is Joko's fourth visit to the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project in his second term. Connecting Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and Bandung, the fourth largest city in Indonesia, the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway is 142 kilometers long and has a designed maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
